![]() The video music starts to kick in and the color red and pink come in bright and prominent to connote the auditions are happening. Both pieces of footage blend into each other seamlessly and creates A really lovely blend between history and fiction. Then a piece of footage comes in of an old interview with Mick Jagger the way that it all smoothly. The footage is backstage of a stage being set up and people preparing for an audition. It is only when a brightly colored piece of text saying 2011 that you notice that this is modern. The music video opens with a black and white stylized amount of shots that make you believe that this is old footage. The beginning of the video focusses on Mick Jagger interview and then it intertwines between new and old footage throughout. People are auditioning in a room to show that they can dance and have the moves like Mick Jagger. The mix of old footage and new footage is really effevtice too. This video sort of has an uplifting vibe to it and you can’t really watch this song without singing or bopping along. This is a really catchy song and it has a really fun video to go with it. ![]() Why did you choose this particular video? Whilst a lot of them will be early Maroon 5, there will be some that are more modern and this is due to the fact that they were impactful when I first saw them. Maroon 5 songs were always around in the early noughties and they dominated the music channels so I thought this month it would be fun to look at their videos. ![]() I would say the only reason I bought the album Songs About Jane was because I really liked the music videos as they had a narrative, bright colours, or were just fun to watch. ![]() This month we look at a band that I am not the biggest fan of but I really enjoy some of their music videos. Music videos are one of my favourite things in the world and I spent hours and I MEAN literally hours when I was growing up watching them Even now in the modern world, I can find myself getting lost on YouTube watching music videos for hours on end – they are an addiction. As you may know, I am a Video Editor – and one of the things (probably the main thing) that inspired me to work in television post production was actually music videos. ![]()
